What can audio-visual synchronization do to mobilize? How are utopias contingent upon the remix, the party and collaboration? Within the context of a Kitchen presentation at the Dutch Art Institute, What’s the Wifi Password? attempts to create a moment of pure communal affect. Utilizing 24 laptop computers from participants, a mix of video-art pieces and referential material were displayed individually on a large table in the center of a town-hall in Epen, NL. Behind a large current, a DJ began to mix and play music. It was 4 pm, drinks were served. What followed was a moment of de-pressurization, senseless gaiety and communal study through observation, conviviality and dance. The proposition was to see if the theory of queer utopias being momentary and on the horizon could happen, could be done through a collaborative and engaging installation of celebration and fun. Costumes were provided and by the end of the brief presentation the dance floor was full of bodies moving, bodies thinking, bodies studying ensemble.
